Event Details:  Local artist, Stephanie Banaszak is featured at Caravan Gallery during Art’s Alive! 2017 in La Conner.  Using line drawings as inspiration for her art, Stephanie experiments with acrylic paints, pigment, and wax layered onto natural and found objects, resulting in an organic feel with contrast of surreal color.  Open Friday-Sunday at 10-6pm.

Event Details:  FORUM Arts will be exhibiting the work of Todd Horton October 7 – November 5.  A local painter, Horton lives on his boat on the Samish River in Edison and works in Bow.  Horton’s imagery speaks to a “magical poetical realism that is once enigmatic and literal.”  His work has been featured at the Museum of Northwest Art and Whatcom Museum, and has received multiple awards and honorariums.  FORUM is delighted to hold an artist talk, “A Conversation with Todd Horton” Saturday, November 4 at 2pm.  FORUM Art Hours:  November 3, 4 & 5, 11am-5pm.

Kiwanis Chowder by the Channel

Event Details:  Kiwanis Chowder by the Channel fundraiser will be held on Saturday from 3-6pm at the La Conner Middle School Gym.  Sample chowder from 12-15 local  restaurants and vote for Best Chowder.  $8/ticket includes chowder, bread, dessert, and a drink.  Other exhibits and activities will accompany the event to support the La Conner After School Program.

Event Details:  The Wood Merchant has offered the Pacific NW’s best selection of the highest quality hand-crafted woodworking for 36 years.  Representing 200 craftsmen, carrying a wide range of products from affordable gifts to custom furniture.  We are sponsoring two renowned artists.  Woodworker, Gary Leake will be demonstrating some of his furniture making techniques on Friday at 10-5pm.  Gary is always on the lookout for one-of-a-kind pieces of timber, each of which provides its own inspiration for a finished piece of furniture art.  John Ebner will be at The Wood Merchant on Saturday at 10-5pm to visit with customers and sign his artwork.  Considered the area’s most collected artist, John has painted and studied the area for the past 35 years.
